A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
