Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
